Our Story So Far...
Hi there! We're a small card company based on a working farm in rural Worcestershire. We publish our own cards and stock a whole host of curated brands in our very own store in Stanford Bridge.
The idea behind Mrs Best Paper Co. came about by Sarah Best whilst on maternity leave back in 2013. A graphic designer by trade, Sarah had previously worked in the media industry for both BBC and ITV and subsequently set up her own design consultancy where over a 10 year period she worked with some awesome brands and produced a folio of award-winning work.
Following the birth of her daughter Tilly, maternity leave proved challenging for Sarah, which she's not ashamed to admit. She missed the purpose of work and felt like she'd lost her creative identity somewhat. Sarah drew upon her design background and began producing nursery prints and wall decals for Tilly's nursery. Friends soon started to ask to buy Sarah's creations and Mrs Best Paper Co. was born!
The business very much started as a side hussle to her own design consultancy. It took a couple of years of blood, sweat, tears and endless cups of coffee, but finally in 2015, Sarah was able to soley focus on her new venture.
Based from home, working from the kitchen table, her online collection soon evolved from art prints and room decor to greeting cards. Sarah eagerly watched on as her cards gained popularity and soon came to realise she might just be able to design cards for a living!
Fast forward to 2018, the business soon outgrew Sarah's home. Running out of space she sought premises close by. Mill Farm Country Retail was the perfect spot, hosting a community of independent businesses based on a working farm, what wasn't to love!?
And so the Mrs Best Paper Co. store was born! A combined shop and studio, the new space provided the perfect setting for the business to grow and just a year later Sarah took on the premises next door doubling the store size.
In September this year, we were super excited to welcome Deb to our team. Having a natural, creative flair with interiors and styling, Deb was the perfect match and now helps with retail sales as well as buying, admin, online channels and promotional displays.
As a two-woman team, we're excited to see where the next chapter takes us. All of the products in-store, we carefully curate and with a shared passion for design-led, sustainable products, we're proud to source items with the environment in mind, so you can feel good about your purchases.
